Prithvi Shaw hit the headlines on October 7 for his altercation with his former teammate Musheer Khan during the friendly game between Maharashtra and Mumbai in Pune. This year, Prithvi is a part of Maharashtra and when
he got the chance to play against his former team against Mumbai, the right-handed batter stepped up and hammered bowlers to produce a superb ton from his bat. Prithvi reached his fifty in 84 balls while he completed his hundred in 144 deliveries. During his knock, he also took Musheer Khan to the cleaners and the latter was also seen sledging the former.
However, Musheer had the last laugh as he got Shaw caught at the hands of Irfan Umair, who was deployed at square leg. Shaw’s innings concluded after notching up 181 off 220. As per CricBuzz, when Prithvi was walking back, Musheer is alleged to have sledged him by saying ‘Thank you.’ This irked the 25-year-old which led to the scuffle. On-field umpires intervened and separated Shaw from Mumbai players.
Maharashtra captain gave a statement on the altercation
Maharashtra skipper Ankit Bhawne has said that the matter isn’t a cause of concern as these things are common during matches. "It's a practice match. They are all former teammates. Such things happen. It's all ok now and there is no issue," remarked Bhawne.
Before the start of theRanji Trophy2025/26 season, Prithvi’s form is a positive sign for the player and his new team. Maharashtra will kick off their campaign against Kerala on October 15 in Thiruvananthapuram and as a top-order batter, Shaw’s responsibility will be to deliver effective knocks to the side in the season.
