Former Team Indiaspinner Ravichandran Ashwin has raised a huge concern regarding India’s bowling attack following the conclusion of the ODI series in Australia. In the initial two ODIs, India’s pace-bowling
attack failed to deliver the desired results. In Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, Mohammed Siraj spearheaded India’s fast-bowling attack but he couldn’t perform upto the expectations. Harshit Rana also looked completely out of rhythm in Perth and Adelaide while Arshdeep Singh looked decent. Noting the ordinary performances of India’s pace attack, Ashwin called for rectifications.
On his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin questioned who are India’s pacers if Jasprit Bumrah doesn’t play matches. "India needs to fix their fast bowling attack. If Bumrah is not there then who are our bowlers? Who will be the support bowlers for Bumrah when we play the World Cup?" said Ashwin.
Harshit Rana stepped up in the third ODI in Sydney
In the final ODI played in Sydney, Harshit Rana delivered a solid performance to the team. The pacer claimed 4/34 figures in his 8.4-over spell and played an instrumental role in bundling out Australia on 236 in 46.4 overs. However, Prasidh Krishna, who played only ODI during the tour, splurged 52 runs in seven overs.
Bumrah, who was rested for the ODI series, will return in the five-match T20I competition. He will be expected to spearhead India’s fast-bowling unit confidently. The first T20I will be played at Manuka Oval on October 29. India, under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, will look to carry the winning momentum from the Asia Cup 2025. The T20I assignment against the Aussies will be crucial for India as they are looking to solidify their preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026 to be played in India and Sri Lanka.
