On November 3, 1990, star Australia all-rounder Ellyse Perry was born in Wahroonga, New South Wales. At the age of 16, she played cricket for New South Wales in an Under-19 interstate tournament. In three matches, she scored 74 runs and picked up three wickets. Her performance impressed and she got selected for the Australian youth team for a tour of New Zealand. The same year, she broke into international cricket with her WODI appearance against New Zealand in Darwin. Australia lost the match by 35 runs but Perry put up a decent all-round show as she racked up 2/37 figures in her eight overs and scored 19 off 20.
In February 2008, Ellyse Perry also made her Test and WT20I debuts for Australia. Perry played a vital role in Australia’s maiden
Women’s T20 World Cup title win in 2010, bagging eight wickets in five matches. In the final against New Zealand in Bridgetown, she claimed 3/18 figures to help her side defend mere 106 runs and claim a three-run win.

Major contribution to Australia’s Women’s Ashes 2023 win
In the Women’s Ashes 2023 win, Australia hammered England by 89 runs and Perry’s contribution was 99 runs in the first innings. Ashleigh Gardner got the Player of the Match (POTM) award for her sensational all-rounder performances but Perry can be called an unsung hero of the game.

In her 18-year career, Perry has accumulated 7607 runs in 347 international matches. She is the fourth-highest run-getter for her national side in Women's T20Is and ODIs. She has notched up 2173 runs in 111 innings of 168 T20Is while in WODIs, she has amassed 4504 runs with three hundreds and 37 fifties and three hundreds in 165 games.
