On this day, January 26, 2016: Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took the second-best match figures by a South African in this history of Test cricket picking up 13 wickets for 144 runs. This performance resulted in an massive win against England in Centurion despite England winning the series 2-1. South Africa scored 475 runs while batting first as Stephen Cook became the oldest South African to score a century on debut. Hashim Amla made his second hundred of the series and Quinton de Kock also scored his maiden century.
Ben Stokes was the pick of the bowlers picking up four wickets. In the second innings, England were bowled out for 342. Alastair Cook and Joe Root both scored 76 runs but missed out on centuries. Kagiso Rabada was outstanding as he picked
up seven wickets to bowl out England and give South Africa a slender lead.
This was Rabada’s career-best figures and he became the youngest South Africa bowler to take seven wickets in an innings as the home side took command of the final Test in Centurion. Kagiso Rabada was playing only his sixth Test, claimed 7-112 to help bowl England out for 342, a first-innings deficit of 133. In the third innings, South Africa piled up on the lead as they scored 248/5 before the declaration came in. Amla was dismissed on 96 as he missed out a century.
England were in all sorts of trouble in the fourth innings as they were bowled out for just 101. Kagiso Rabada was wonderful in the game as he picked up six wickets. Morne Morkel was excellent picking up three wickets with the new ball as well. On the final day, with England 52 for 3 chasing 382, Rabada picked up four wickets in 4.4 overs to bowl them out for 101. South Africa completed a terrific win as they won the Test match by 280 runs.
