In the major development, star Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has made his return in the Big Bash League (BBL) after a hiatus of 11 years. The left-arm pacer has signed a contract with Sydney Sixers
for the upcoming edition of the tournament starting on December 14. Starc has been picked as a supplementary for the Sixers, but with his retirement from the T20I cricket, the fast bowler is likely to be available in BBL 15 in the starting of 2026.
However, Mitchell Starc will not be seen playing for Sydney Sixers in the starting of BBL 15 as he is likely to be picked in the Australian squad for the upcoming Ashes series starting on November 21. The series will end on January 8 and the fast bowler is likely to be available for the Sixers after that. The tournament is scheduled to be played till January 25, 2026.

Mitchell Starc also shared his statement after getting picked by Sydney Sixers for BBL season 15 and expressed his excitement for the upcoming season. "I can't wait to pull on the Sixers' fresh magenta playing shirt in BBL|15,” Starc was quoted as saying by India TV.
"Over the past decade I've stayed close to the club and, all things going to plan, am excited to get back on the field this summer. The Sixers are close to my heart, and I have great memories of our BBL|01 and Champions League success. My goal is to help bring another trophy home to our passionate fans,” he further added.
