G Kamalini ruled out of remainder of TATA WPL 2026, Mumbai Indians pick Vaishnavi Sharma as her replacement

Mumbai Indians have been dealt a huge blow as wicketkeeper-batter Gunalan Kamalini has been ruled out of the ongoing edition of the Women’s Premier League due to an injury. She opened the batting and kept

wickets for Mumbai Indians. Kamalini has not had a great season with scores of 32, 16, 13, 5 and 9* in the five matches she played for Mumbai Indians in this season. She has now been replaced by left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma. This news was out from the official WPL handle.

“Mumbai Indians (MI) picked Vaishnavi Sharma as a replacement for G Kamalini for the remainder of the TATA Women’s Premier League 2026. G Kamalini, the MI wicketkeeper-batter, had played 5 matches in the ongoing edition of the TATA WPL before being ruled out of the season due to an injury,” a statement from the Women’s Premier League read.

“Mumbai Indians (MI) picked Vaishnavi Sharma as a replacement for G Kamalini for the remainder of the TATA Women’s Premier League 2026. G Kamalini, the MI wicketkeeper-batter, had played 5 matches in the ongoing edition of the TATA WPL before being ruled out of the season due to an injury. Vaishnavi Sharma will join MI for INR 30 Lakh. The left-arm spinner, who was a member of India’s triumphant ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup squad of 2025, has played 5 T20Is for India, scalping 5 wickets from the same,” a statement from the Women’s Premier League.

G Kamalini is also part of the India Women’s ODI and T20I squad for the tour of Australia so it will be interesting to see if she can recover on time. The Mumbai Indians wicket-keeper has been very good behind the stumps and is rated by many experts as a future star. Mumbai Indians have two wins and three losses in five matches. They will be up against Delhi Capitals in the next game.
