India has announced a strong 20-member squad for the World BoxingCup Finals 2025 in Greater Noida. The illustrious event will be held in Delhi from November 14 to 21 and 140 boxers from 18 countries will participate
in it. The boxing extravaganza will also feature three Paris Olympics medalists, Aeji Im of South Korea, Wu Shih-Yi and Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei. Discussing India’s squad, ex-world champion Nikhat Zareen (51kg), defending world champion Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), World Championship silver medalist Nupur Sheoran (80+ kg), reigning world champion Minakshi (48kg), former world champion Saweety Boora (75kg), two-time Asian champion Pooja Rani (80kg) are part of the women's side.
Discussing the men’s squad, Hitesh and will lead the team with Abhinash Jamwal with young and veteran players. Speaking on the occasion, BFI President Ajay Singh remarked, “Hosting the World Boxing Cup Finals is a proud moment for Indian boxing and a reflection of how far we’ve come on the global stage. Bringing the world’s top nations and Olympic medallists to compete here is not just an honour, but a testament to India’s growing stature as a boxing powerhouse. Our athletes have shown they can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best, and this event gives them the perfect platform to prove it once again.”
Other notable Indian players in India’s squad at the upcoming event
India’s squad also include other notable players such as Jadumani Singh (50kg), Pawan Bartwal (55kg), Sachin (60kg), Sumit (75kg), Lakshya Chahar (80kg), Jugnoo (85kg), Naveen Kumar (90kg), and Narender (90+kg) are in the men’s segment. The women’s section also included Preeti (54kg), Parveen (60kg), Neeraj Phogat (65kg), and Arundhati Choudhary (70kg).
Lovlina Borgohain, who qualified for the World Cup finals on world ranking points, won't be showing up in the next month’s finals as she will undergo a surgery for an unidentified injury.
