X went berserk as the Delhi Capitals lost six wickets in the powerplay against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday. Both teams were up against each other in the 39th league stage game of the Indiana Premier League 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in India’s capital city. The game saw visiting skipper Rajat Patidar win the toss and invite the rivals to put the score on the board first. The Delhi Capitals, who were aiming to put an end on their two-game losing streak, got off to a horrifying start.
They lost opener Sahil Parikh on a two-ball duck, followed by wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul on just one run in three balls. Sameer Rizvi was next to walk back on a golden duck, and even Nitish Rana couldn’t score more than a single. The defending champions
also took down the wickets of Tristan Stubs and Axar Patel on just five and 0 runs, respectively. By the end of the six overs, the Capitals were at just 13-6, recording the lowest ever powerplay score in the history of the IPL.
Not only this, but the Capitals also levelled the Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Deccan Chargers’ clash in 2011 to record the most wickets lost inside an IPL innings in a non-curtained game.

Needless to say, the lowest total recorded by the Capitals in the history of the tournament sparked a meme fest on the internet. Fans didn’t hold back and compared them with the RCB, citing that the defending champions’ forgettable 49-run record is in danger. Notably, the Bengaluru-based franchise was bowled out for just 49 in 9.4 overs in their chase of 132 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017.
