Former Indian cricketer has advised opening batterRohit Sharma to be more consistent in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and score around 600 to 700 runs in a season to prolong hiss cricketing career. Rohit is currently
in the final stage of his international career and there had been several debates regarding his form and fitness.
However, the star opening batter showed great determination as he ended up losing 10 kgs from his body ahead of the ODI series against. Rohit also showed great form in the three-match ODI series down under and won the Player of the series award. Apart from that, he also achieved the number one ICCODI ranking in his career at the age of 38 years. Now, Rohit will be seen in action in the home ODI series against South Africa starting on November 30.
Rohit Sharma gets points for captaincy in IPL: Mohammad Kaif
In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Mohammad Kaif advised Rohit Sharma to become more consistent in the IPL and score 600-700 runs in every season like Virat Kohli. Rohit had a great career in IPL especially as captain where he led Mumbai Indians to five titles in his leadership. He is also just behind Kohli in list of all-time leading run scorers in IPL with 7046 runs in 272 matches. However, he hasn't been able to breach the 600-run mark in a single IPL season.
"We talk about Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, but Rohit Sharma has not scored 700-800 runs in a season. In the IPL, he gets points for captaincy and experience, but when you compare him with Virat Kohli or some other batter, he doesn't score 600-700 runs. He scores in one or two matches and becomes the Man of the Match," Kaif said on his YouTube channel.
"So, the biggest test for him this time is to cross the 500-run or 600-run mark. Sai Sudharsan scored 750 runs this time. So, Rohit Sharma would also want to score around 600 runs because he has gotten lean and is in good form. He will be very hungry for runs in this IPL," he added.
