The Indian women’s team created history on Sunday, November 2 as they defeated South Africa Women by 52 in the final in Navi Mumbai to clinch their first-everWomen’s ODI World Cup title. After years of
heartbreak and finishing as the runners-up twice, India Women finally got their hands on an ICC title in front of their home crowd. On this special occasion, the members of the Indian team unveiled a new team song that was kept secret for a long time.
In a video shared by BCCI Women on social media, Jemimah Rodrigues revealed that the song was made four years ago but the team decided to unveil it only after winning the World Cup. After that, all the players, coaches and staff members huddled around the centre and sang the team song together.
The lyrics of the song went like:
“Team India, Team India,
Karde sabki hawa tight,
Team India is here to fight.
Koi na leta humko light,
Our future is bright.
Chand pe chalenge, sath me uthenge,
Hum hai Team India, hum sath me jitenge.
Na lega koi panga, kar denge hum danga.
Rahega sabse upar, humara tiranga.
Hum hai Team India, hum hai Team India, hum hai Team India.”
