Team India pacer Arshdeep Singh has entered record books as the first bowler to bag 100 T20I wickets for his country. In the Asia Cup 2025 final Group A game between India and Oman in Abu Dhabi, Arshdeep scripted history. Defending the score of 188, India contained Oman on 167/4. In the final over of the match, the left-arm speedster was given the task to defend 34 runs. On the first delivery of the over, Vinayak Shukla mistimed the ball and got caught at the hands of Rinku Singh, who was in the middle as a substitute fielder. With this scalp, Arshdeep added the unique feat to his name.
He pulled off the milestone in 64 matches only and with this fact, he is also the third-fastest bowler to complete 100 T20I wickets. He is only behind Sri Lanka’s
Wanindu Hasaranga and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan on the chart of ICC's full-member team bowlers to grab fastest 100 T20I wickets. The left-handed bowler started his T20I career in July 2022, with his debut match against England in Southampton. Since then, he has delivered several match-winning moments to India. In India’s second T20 World Cup title win in 2024, he also emerged as the most successful bowler for the Men in Blue with 17 wickets in eight outings at an economy of 7.16.
Arshdeep Singh’s performance against Oman
AlthoughArshdeep Singh completed his 100 T20I wickets, his bowling performance against Oman was unsatisfactory. In his four-over spell, he struggled to get wickets and contain runs. In his four-over spell, he splurged 37 runs and got only one wicket at an expensive economy of 9.25.
If India included Arshdeep in their playing XI against Pakistan on September 21, the 26-year-old speedster will be expected to be disciplined with the ball. In the upcoming Sunday’s game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Jasprit Bumrah is also expected to return in India’s 11-member squad.
