Indian Head Coach Gautam Gambhir gave a hilarious response when was asked about assigning a mental conditioning coach for captain Shubman Gill. On Tuesday, October 14, India defeated West Indies by seven
wickets in the second Test in Delhi to win the two-match Test series by 2-0. This was a special win as it came on the occasion of Gambhir’s 44th birthday.
Apart from that, this was also the first series win for Shubman Gill as captain. The 26-year-old has been impressive as the Test captain of India so far as India levelled the five-match series in England by 2-2 and defeated West Indies in a home Test series by 2-0. Now, Gill will also be seen taking a charge as captain in the ODI format as he has been appointed as new ODI captain ahead of the upcoming series in Australia starting October 19.

After the end of the second Test, Gautam Gambhir attended the post-match press conference and answered the questions by the journalists. One of the journalists asked Gambhir is captain Shubman Gill needs an mental conditioning coach as he recently became captain of India in two of the three formats and is being looked at as the future leader for Men In Blue. To this, Gambhir replied with “I need one,” leaving everyone in splits.
In the press conference, Gautam Gambhir was also asked about the future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in ODIs and whether the duo will be seen playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup or not. To this, Gambhir replied, “"Look, ODI World Cup is still about two and a half years away and I think it is very important to stay in the present. Obviously, there are quality players coming back and their experience is going to be helpful in Australia as well. Hopefully, those two guys will have a successful tour and more importantly, as a team, we will have a successful tour.”
