Following the Delhi car blast near the Red Fort on Monday, November 10, the entire Indian sub-continent is amidst a panicking situation. Although, the central government has put everything on high alert,
all state authorities have been put to action while the investigations turn out. While the Delhi Policehas tightened security around the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium during the Ranji Trophy games, Kolkata Police has also teamed up to provide superior security.
With the Indian cricket team currently in Kolkata for the first Test against South Africa, the Kolkata Police have heightened security in and around the Eden Gardens, providing increased security following the blast near Delhi’s Lal Qila metro station. This comes to ensure safety and security of all, including the members of the Indian as well as the South African teams.
Kolkata Police tightens security ahead of IND vs SA first Test
In the videos released by news agencies, naka checks and vehicle inspections are being done by the police officials at all key areas, ensure public safety. Furthermore, reports suggest that Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma is expected to visit Eden Gardens on Tuesday to review the arrangements in person. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has been working closely with the police to ensure robust safety protocols for players, officials, and spectators.
Moreover, security at the team hotels have also been strengthened following a meeting between the members if Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and the Kolkata Police after the incident. Notably, with both teams already in the city, the first Test is scheduled to be played from November 14 to 18 at the Eden Gardens. They will then travel to Guwahati for the second Test, set to be played from November 22 onwards.
