What initially appeared to be a scripted beatdown has evolved into a real-life saga for Jacob Fatu, also known as the “Samoan Werewolf”. The former United States Champion was reportedly written off television
in a backstage ambush on WWE SmackDown that appeared to leave him bloodied and buried under a heap of production gear. Now it is said that Fatu is undergoing extensive dental and health-related procedures that will bench him for months, potentially keeping the 33-year-old Samoan out of action well into 2026.
The revelation related to Jacob Fatu, by wrestling journalist Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, paints a picture far grimmer than mere cosmetic tweaks. As fans flooded social media with concerns post-SmackDown, Hays fielded direct questions on X (formerly Twitter), confirming the gravity of Fatu's situation. When one supporter queried if the absence stemmed from “just getting new teeth,” Hays replied, “Yes.” Pressed further on whether it was a vanity project like veneers, he clarified, “Health wise.” Another follow-up elicited the truth, “He's getting his entire mouth worked on.”
Since debuting in 2024, Jacob Fatu has faced top opponents like Roman Reigns and The Usos
Just weeks into a blistering solo run following his September 26 return to SmackDown, Jacob Fatu appeared in good form. After turning babyface on Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank in June last year, costing his former Bloodline boss the contract, Fatu captured the U.S. Title from LA Knight at WrestleMania 41 in April, etching his name into WWE lore. His Last Man Standing bout with Braun Strowman earlier that month had fans chanting for a main event push, reportedly positioning him as a potential challenger to Cody Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Championship.
Debuting in 2024 as the Bloodline's enforcer, he defeated foes alongside Sikoa, Tonga Loa, and Tama Tonga, clashing against wrestlers like Roman Reigns and The Usos. Minor setbacks including a foot tweak post-SummerSlam 2024 and a Survivor Series bump barely slowed him. But this time it can be said as different as reports describe that Fatu will undergo a comprehensive oral reconstruction involving multiple surgeries to address chronic dental issues exacerbated by years of high-impact wrestling, which will keep him out of action for a long time.
