The World Test Championship (WTC) winners, South Africa is touring India for a multi-format tour, comprising of two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is. The tour commenced last week with the first Test at the Eden
Gardens in Kolkata. The Temba Bavuma-led side continued their dominance in red-ball cricket as they defeated India by 30 runs to go 1-0 up in the two-match Test series.
However, it was Protea Men’s first win over India in 15 years in Test cricket, they will look to maintain it when they next take on the Men in Blue in the second Test, scheduled to be played from November 22 to 26 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Ahead of the second Test, the visitors have been handed a massive setback as they continue to sweat on pacer Kagiso Rabada’s fitness.
Lungi Ngidi added as cover for Kagiso Rabada ahead of 2nd IND vs SA Test
With the Protean spearhead missing the opening Test in Kolkata due to a rib injury, the visitors are still sweating on his fitness. As a result, South Africa have reportedly added Lungi Ngidi into their national squad for the second Test. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Ngidi has been brought in as an injury replacement.
Notably, Lungi Ngidi last played a Test match for South Africa back in June 2025 at the Lord’s. Overall, the 29-year-old has played 20 Tests and was not selected for the current series against India. He also missed the tour of Pakistan prior to this.
