The Men’s Asia Cup 2025 has finally reached its penultimate stage where India will take on Pakistan in the summit clash on Sunday, September 28 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. While this
will be the first time in the tournament’s 41-year-old history that India and Pakistan will play the title match, it will be the third match in this edition.
As India set their eyes on ninth Asia Cup title, Pakistan will aim to avenge their previous two defeats - both of which have come recently in the tournament. Seeing this, former Pakistan cricketer and captain Rashid Latif reignited the rivalry debate, aiming at Suryakumar Yadav after latter’s remarks.
Jab tak jung hai tab tak cricket ki rivalry rahegi: Rashid Latif on IND vs PAK rilvary
Speaking to Times of India (TOI), former Pakistan captain said, “There will be rivalry. Jab tak jung hai tab tak cricket ki rivalry rahegi. Ye khatam nahi hogi (As long as there is war, there will be rilvary in cricket. It will not end).” The 56-year-old however admitted that India will continue to win, but the rivalry will remain always. “But yes, India will continue to win. That is not a problem. But rivalry will always be there. It will continue,” Rashid Latif continued. Not only this, as he spoke on the rivalry, he also took a sly dig at Suryakumar Yadav after he had stated that India versus Pakistan is not a rivalry anymore.
“The disadvantage will be for India. India has everything to lose. Pakistan has nothing to lose; they are already underdogs. If Pakistan wins here, it will very tough for the BCCI, and also for some players who have been very vocal about this tournament - be it the captain’s statement, the broad’s stance, or Shubman Gill’s tweet. There will be a lot of noise around that,” he remarked.
