Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula One World Driver’s Champion, has always expressed his love for his dog Roscoe, who was like a family member to him. Roscoe, Hamilton’s pet bulldog has been with him through
all the ups and downs in his life over the years. However, Lewis Hamilton has announced earlier today that his dog Roscoe passed away just a day ago.
A few days back, Roscoe was admitted to the hospital as he was battling a lot of health problems for some time now. He was placed in a coma after being treated for pneumonia and battled hard with the pain. However, as the pain increased and the dog’s health kept getting worse, Hamilton had to make the toughest decision of his life as he had to put Roscoe to sleep and witness his pet dying in his arms. Hamilton penned down an emotional note on his social media on Monday, September 29, along with the pictures of his 12-year-old bulldog, paying tribute to the life of Roscoe.
He never stopped fighting, right until the very end: Lewis Hamilton
The Ferrari driver who missed out on the Pirelli tyre test in Mugello, Italy, to stay by his pet dog’s side through the final moments of his life said, "After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe. He never stopped fighting, right until the very end. I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend. Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together."
Further, Hamilton expressed the pain of putting his dog down stating, "Although I lost Coco, I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have. It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet. Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.” He further expressed his gratitude to the fans who showered their love for Roscoe and thanked them for their support throughout this difficult phase.
