Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, is currently enjoying an impressive start to their Asia Cup 2025 campaign in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). After defeating the likes of Pakistan, the UAE, and Oman in their Group A matches of the continental tournament, India stormed into the Super 4 round with an unbeaten record, and they will be hoping to continue their good form against tougher opposition to reach yet another final.
Ahead of India’s first match in the Super 4 round against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21, the Times of India (TOI) Sports, posted a video on X of Gautam Gambhir engaging in a long discussion with the UAE head coach Lalchand Rajput on the sidelines of India’s practice
session. In the background, Abhishek Sharma and other Indian players could be seen practising their skills with the help of the Indian support staff and net bowlers.

While it might never be known what was discussed between Gautam Gambhir and Lalchand Rajput, it could possibly help them get the best of their respective teams in the short and long-term. Rajput has immense experience of coaching cricket teams at the international level including names like Afghanistan and Zimbabwe apart from the UAE currently, while his biggest claim to fame could be India’s title win at T20 World Cup 2007 as team manager when Gambhir was a player for them.
Lalchand Rajput has also lended his coaching services to Mumbai Indians at the franchise level during the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. As far as Gautam Gambhir, the expectation from the Indian fans is for him to guide the team to Asia Cup 2025 title unbeaten, but with the matches coming thick and fast, it will be far from easy for the players and coaching staff to live up to their billing.
After taking on Pakistan later today, India will have to battle against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka next week in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup 2025 with a spot in the final at stake.
