Neeraj Chopra, who was defending the javelin title in World Athletics Championships 2025, finished his campaign in the eighth spot as he fouled in the fifth round of the final in Tokyo. In the opening attempt of the final, Neeraj ended up in second spot with his throw of 83.65m. In the second attempt, he recorded 84.03m throw. After three rounds of the final, he maintained the best of 84.03m. He fouled his third attempt and was required to produce something exceptional to push himself in the position to defend the title. On one side, Neeraj was struggling while his compatriot, Sachin Yadav was looking at his best.
Neeraj concluded his fourth attempt with his 82.86m throw. He displayed his frustration after failing to be at his best. After five
attempts, his journey ended in the World Athletics Championship javelin final. He was no match to the top contenders and ended his tournament in eighth place. Neeraj's compatriot Sachin Yadav looked confident and finished the tournament in the fourth spot. It was Yadav's personal best performance with 86.27m throw.
Keshorn Walcott wins World Athletics Championship 2025
Keshorn Walcott has emerged as the most successful athlete in the competition. He pulled off his second global title in the men’s javelin, winning at the title with 88.16m. He took the lead in the second round with his 87.83m. His confidence emboldened as he recorded an 88.16m throw in the fourth round.
Two-time world champion Anderson Peters won the silver medal with his second-round throw of 87.38m while USA’s Curtis Thompson gained a bronze with 86.67m. Pakistan's Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem ended up finishing in the 10th position with his 82.75m.
