After getting a three drubbing against India in the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan is currently hosting South Africa in an all-format tour, comprising of two Tests, three T20Is and ODIs. While the Men in Green registered a 93-run win over Protean side in the first Test to go 1-0 up in the series, but their loss to India in the continental tournament continues to be amidst talks.
Seeing the series of defeats coming against India, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is mulling to take some stern steps. Among them is the likely removal of their white-ball skipper Salman Ali Agha. The decision triggered after Pakistan’s poor performance in the Asia Cup, where the Men in Green registered all three losses to India, including the one in the final.
Shadab Khan to replace Salman Ali Agha as Pakistan T20I skipper: Reports
Furthermore,
the reports in the PTI also state that all-rounder Shadab Khan, who continues his recovery from a shoulder surgery, is set to replace Salman Ali Agha in the shortest format of the game. If reports are to be believed, this comes as a strategic decision with the T20 World Cup set to be played in a few months’ time in India and Sri Lanka.
The main reason remains to be Pakistan’s three losses in a span of 15 days which came at the Asia Cup in Dubai. While the Men in Green registered seven-wicket defeat against Pakistan in the group stage clash, they were handed a six-wicket drubbing in the Super Fours a week later, followed by a five-wicket defeat in the summit clash on September 28.
