The sixth match of the Asia Cup 2025between Team India and Pakistan received a lot of headlines as many folks in India felt that the Indian government and BCCI shouldn’t allow the Men in Blue to participate in the game against the Green Army. Despite facing pressure from India's public and media, BCCI didn’t change their stand and allowed their team to square off against the Men in Green on September 14. However, while playing the match, India boycotted Pakistan through some gestures. After the toss, when Pakistan emerged victorious, India captain Suryakumar Yadav didn’t follow the handshake custom with his counterpart Salman Ali Agha.
Similarly, when India completed the chase, they ignored the Pakistan players and didn’t shake hands with them.
After the match, when Indiaskipper Suryakumar spoke in the post-match presentation, he dedicated the victory to the Indian Armed Forces and Pahalgam terror attack victims.
The 35-year-old said, “We stand by the victims of the families of Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. We want to dedicate today's win to all our Armed Forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile: India captain Surya Kumar Yadav.”
India might face Pakistan again in the Super 4 round of Asia Cup 2025
India have qualified for the Super 4 round after beating the Men in Green but they might witness Salman Agha and his men again in the next stage of the tournament. India will play their next match against Oman on September 19, while Pakistan will take on UAE on September 17, in their final game of the group round.
India’s campaign has been extraordinary so far as they won their couple of matches in a dominating style. However, eyes will be set on their performances in the Super 4 round. With spinners getting assistance in UAE’s conditions, India will want their spin attack to be at their best. Kuldeep Yadav has done a phenomenal jon for India in the competition, clinching seven wickets in two matches at a frugal economy of 4.05.
