India won the first ODI against New Zealand by four wickets. India won the toss and opted to bowl first in the opening match of the series against New Zealand at Vadodara on Sunday. The Kiwi openers started
really well with both of them scoring half centuries. Daryl Mitchell with knock of 84 runs helped New Zealand set a defendable total of 300 runs. In a game of swinging momentum, India did well enough to restrict the Kiwis after their early onslaught.
Harshit Rana bowled really well and picked up the wickets of both the openers. Harshit ended his spell with 10-65-2. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj also picked up two wickets each. It looked a par score at the halfway mark.
Chasing a target of 300, it was a good start by Indian openers but Rohit was dismissed for 26 and then Virat Kohli joined Shubman Gill and they put up a big partnership. Shubman Gill scored his half century and soon got dismissed at 56. Virat Kohli continued his sublime form and broke some records on his way but missed out on a century as he was dismissed for 93.

Suddenly a collapse was triggered by Jamieson who dismissed Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer. It became a tense chase at the closing stages and Harshit Rana played a crucial cameo. KL Rahul ensured that India chased down the target in the 49th over with four wickets spare. Virat Kohli was the player of the match.
