It didn’t turn out to be a great outing for India in the 2025 World Athletics Championship as defending champions Neeraj Choprafailed to repeat his triumph. Neeraj finished at the eighth position in the final and had to finish without a medal this time. However, another India Javelin star who finished ahead of Neeraj in the World Athletics Champions 2025 was Sachin Yadav.
The 25-year-old finished fourth in the final but failed to win the medal for India. Despite not winning the medal, Sachin Yadav ended up registering his personal best (PB) throw of 86.27 meters. With his heroics, Sachin caught the attention of the fans and is now being looked at as the next superstar of India in Javelin after Neeraj Chopra.
Who is Sachin Yadav?
Sachin Yadav was born in Khekra village
in Uttar Pradesh on October 25, 1999. His talent was recognised by his neighbour and cricketer Sandeep Yadav during a local cricket match. Sandeep observed Sachin’s strong shoulders and advised him to take the Javelin throw as a sport.. With the help of Sandeep’s guidance, Sachin pursued his career in Javelin throw at the age of 19 years.
Sachin is also a Police constable and ended up winning Gold Medal in the All India Police Athletics Championships in 2024 with a throw of 84.21 meters representing UP Police. He secured another gold in the Indian Grand Prix 3 with a throw of 82.69 meters in 2024 and bagged a silver medal at the National Open Athletics Championships with a throw of 79.80 meters in the same year.
Sachin Yadav came into the limelight when he won a gold medal in the 38th National games in Dehradun in February 2025. He made his best throw at that time which was 84.39 meters. Then in May 2025, Sachin won silver in the 26th Asian Athletics Championships with a throw of 85.16 meters.
