The Indian cricket team currently hosting the World Test Championship reigning champions, South Africa in a two-match Test series. However, the hosts trail the series by 0-1 margin after the Temba Bavuma-led side won the first Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata by 30 runs on Sunday, November 16. While they will hope to continue their dominant form in red-ball cricket, the Shubman Gill & co. will look to bounce back and hope to end the Test series in a draw.
With the second Test scheduled to be played from November 22 to 26 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, like the home team, the visitors are also sweating on the fitness of star pacer Kagiso Rabada. However, they have reportedly added Lungi Ngidi into the national squad as cover
for Rabada, they were also handed a massive jolt with injury scare to two key players.
Marco Jansen and Simon Harmer visit local hospital in Kolkata; raises injury concerns
While they continue to prepare for the second Test, which starts this weekend, they were unsettled by unexpected injury scare. As per a report citing News18, Player of the Match winner of the first Test Simon Harmer has been dealing with a shoulder issue and made a visit to Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday. He was accompanied by pacer Marco Jansen, who is also nursing a niggle.
Notably, seeing the injuries, both required medical attention and were referred to the hospital before the team travels to Guwahati. Although not much is known about their injuries, it also remains unclear whether the injuries will affect their participation in the upcoming match.
