Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma got injured while batting against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026. The Indians were up against the defending champions in a high-voltage clash on Sunday, at home. During the game, Sharma suffered a niggle in his hamstring and decided to walk off while the hosts were chasing a mammoth total of 240 runs. He was replaced by Suryakumar Yadav.
The incident took place after the second ball of the sixth over after the former skipper bowled a delivery around middle and leg. Sharma clipped the delivery towards the mid-wicket, but couldn’t manage to score any runs. He was then seen struggling with his hamstring and decided to walk off to the pavilion. SKY walked in as his replacement as the veteran batter
got retired hurt, once again raising eyebrows on his fitness levels. Sharma scored 19 runs in 13 balls before walking back.

Mumbai Indians chase towering total of 240
Mumbai Indians, who failed to record any win in the season after their season-opening victory, won the toss and let the rivals put the score on the board first. The defending-champions got off to a fiery start, owing to a spectacular 78-run knock of 36 balls, with a combination of six boundaries and six maximums. Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli came up with a 38-ball 50, while skipper Rajat Patidar contributed 53 runs in 20 deliveries, with a combination of four boundaries and five sixes.
Apart from them, Tim David remained unbeaten at 34 whereas Jitesh Sharma and Romario Shepherd put 10 and 2* runs, respectively. The blistering knocks of RCB’s top order powered them to post 240 runs at the loss of four wickets on the scoreboard. Coming back to MI, the five-time IPL winners lost two wickets at 99 runs by the end of 10 overs.
