The International Federation of the Association Football (FIFA) has unveiled the official match ball for the World Cup 2026, to be played in the United States of America (USA), Canada, and Mexico, calling it the “Trionda”. The first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup is set to be hosted across 16 cities in the North American continent, and the official match ball of the competition celebrates the three countries who will welcome the best footballers from all over the world.
In their official statement to unveil the “Trionda”, FIFA, in collaboration with Adidas, revealed that the word can be translated from Spanish as “three waves”, signifying the unity among the USA, Canada, and Mexico in celebrating football while hosting the World Cup next year. It
has the colour scheme and iconography of a blue star for the USA, red maple leaf for Canada, and a green eagle for Mexico, while its gold embellishment is a tribute to the coveted FIFA World Cup trophy.
As far as the innovation in the FIFA World Cup 2026 official match ball “Trionada” is concerned, it has the “four-panel construction four-panel construction incorporates intentionally deep seams, creating a surface that produces optimal in-flight stability by ensuring sufficient and evenly distributed drag as the ball travels through the air.” It also has a state-of-the-art 500Hz motion sensor chip technology, which will deliver insight into every element of the movement of the ball, which will be used by the VAR.
