In a major turn of events from the world of pro-wrestling, WWE President Nick Khan confirmed in a recent interview at the IMG x RedBird Summit that Italy will be hosting its first Premium Live Event (PLE) of the promotion in 2026. At the same time, the 51-year-old also stated that the PLE will go down early next year, which would presumably mean that it happens on the road to WrestleMania 42 since no other detail has been revealed yet.
Notably, on the road to WrestleMania 41 earlier this year, Bologna in Italy got to host WWE SmackDown on their European tour in March. It was just last month when France got to host its first WWE PLE called Clash in Paris, while Germany had the same honor in 2024 with Bash in Berlin just over a year ago as part
of the promotion’s strategy of expanding its business beyond North America, especially since their takeover by TKO in 2023.
We believe WWE is a global property: Nick Khan
While speaking at the IMG x ReBird Summit about hosting more and more WWE events in the overseas market, Nick Khan was quoted as saying, as per SportsBusiness, “Almost half of our Premium Live Events take place outside of the United States now. We believe WWE is a global property, we believe the results on these shows, both in terms of attendance and viewership (locally and globally) have been significant. We have seen year-over-year increases for viewership on each one.”
After hosting their next PLE at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, which is called Wrestlepalooza on Saturday, September 20, WWE will be taking over Perth, Australia with three events early next month. At the RAC Arena, SmackDown will happen on October 9 just a day before Crown Jewel PLE, and two days after that, Raw is set to go down, culminating a historic triple treat of WWE events for the Australian fans.
