In a historic IPL 2026 match, Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians in their biggest ever loss, winning by 103 margin. MI was bowled out at 104 at their own fortress, Wankhede, which surpassed their previous lowest total against CSK (136/8).
With the continuation of the conversation, this former MI player, Harbhajan Singh, made a bold statement against the CSK Team and also MS Dhoni. The former Indian Spinner clearly expressed that the prime MI and prime CSK team was on a different league. Prime CSK had no chance to win against the prime MI team. He pointed out the talented players who donned the MI jersey, then would easily be dominant on the CSK side. He also mentioned that MS Dhoni is nothing special; he can easily take his wicket.
"Prime
Mumbai and prime CSK are not even comparable. We would have beaten them comfortably, just by calling it out. Just look at the players we had if you take an all-time setup with Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga in bowling, and in batting, Sachin Tendulkar, then CSK would never be able to match that team. No matter who you bring, MS Dhoni, Matthew Hayden, or Suresh Raina, we would beat them easily, and Dhoni is nothing special. I would get him out myself," said the spinner turned Cricket commentator.
Netizens thought that was a strong opinion, but there was no need for comparison, as both teams in their prime had legendary players donning the jersey
Harbhajan Singh still believes that MI can make a comeback this season
Despite a poor start to the campaign and lingering below the points table with just 2 wins in eight games, Former MI spinner, Harbhajan Singh, believes that MI can make a comeback in the league and even reach the playoffs.
He said that the bowlers should step up for MI and that would reduce pressure on Jasprit Bumrah to perform at his best.
"There are high expectations from Jasprit Bumrah, and he carries a significant workload. Other players also need to contribute and step up with their performances. The Mumbai Indians are a side that, once they start winning, can be difficult to stop. They need to find the right approach to get back to winning ways," he told ANI.
Bhajji believes the MI are a strong team and once they get back in rhythm and the players step up, they can be unstoppable.
Currently Jasprit Bumrah’s form and just 2 wickets and their middle order Indian trio with likes of Surya Kumar Yadav, Hardik pandya and Tilak Varma’s lack of form has been a major concern for MI.
