Yastika Bhatia ruled out of WPL due to injury, Huge blow for Gujarat Giants

As the WPL is ready to begin with a bang in a brand new season, there has been another injury concern with Indian wicket-keeper batter Yastika Bhatia getting injured and ruled out for this edition. Gujarat

Giants confirmed Yastika Bhatia’s unavailability for the WPL 2026 season. She also missed India Women’s home series against Australia and the World Cup due to injury. She was released by Mumbai Indians last year. Despite being injured, the Gujarat Giants picked her for this WPL. However, given that she has yet to recover from the injury, Yastika Bhatia has been ruled out of the entire tournament. As per the new rules, Gujarat Giants will not be allowed to sign a replacement player as they were aware of Yastika Bhatia’s injury at the time of picking her in auction.

Yastika Bhatia has done for Mumbai Indians in the past seasons scoring 506 runs across 28 innings at an average of 18.74 and a strike rate of 113.45 in her WPL career. She has a half-century and used to open the batting for Mumbai Indians. Yastika Bhatia is also a two-time WPL winner, having played 28 matches for MI Women from 2023 to 2025. However, after the last edition she was released by Mumbai Indians side.

She had joined the Gujarat Giants WPL 2026 squad at a price of INR 50 lakhs in the mega auction. However now it is confirmed that she participate in the tournament after failing to recover from the knee injury. Beth Mooney is already there in the team and will be their wicker-keeper Gujarat Giants will start their WPL 2026 campaign with their opening match against the UP Warriorz on Saturday, January 10 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. They will face DC, MI and RCB in their upcpming games at the same venue before the caravan shifts to the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
