The T20 World Cup 2026 is less than a month away. The marquee tournament will be co hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Despite such less time left for the event to start, Bangladesh are still unsure on what
will be the decision of ICC and whether they would be able to move their matches out of India. Due to this there is also a lot of anxiety amongst the players and support staff as they are unsure. Bangladesh Cricket Board has written to ICC that they want their fixtures moved out from India due to security concerns and BCB have been involved in multiple meetings recently with ICC.
Former Bangladesh skipper, Tamil Iqbal recently spoke on this incident and sent a warning to Bangladesh cricket board and advised them not to take on ICC. He said that Bangladesh cricket revenue depends entirely on ICC and the board should solve the issue with words and adhere to whatever ICC says.
Tamil Iqbal attended a ceremony of the Zia Inter-University Cricket Tournament and said that BCB should ensure it does not shoot itself in the foot by refusing to play the T20 World Cup in India. He said their cricket future depends on the ICC revenue.
Speaking to Daily Star, former batter Tamim Iqbal said “Since I am not involved with BCB like any other regular person I am finding things out through the media. But I am sure those dealing with these matters have a lot more information. So in that regard, I should not suddenly be making comments. What I am saying, however, is that Bangladesh cricket’s interest, future and everything else must be considered before making such a decision. There is nothing better than if something can be resolved through dialogue. Bangladesh cricket’s future comes before everything else, and 90 to 95 percent of the finances come from the ICC.”
