After claiming the three-match ODI series against India by 2-1 margin at home, the Mitchell Marsh-led Australian cricket team will take on the world champions in a five-match T20I series, starting Wednesday,
October 29. The team from Down Under will be without several of the mainstays due to injuries as well as their preparations for the highly-anticipated Ashes series.
Just hours prior to the opening T20I, which will be played on October 29 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, the Australian team made more changes. While the squad earlier in the day confirmed unavailability of spinner Adam Zampa for the opening game due to personal reasons, they announced Tanveer Sangha as his replacement.

However, later in the day, the team made another change with the addition of Ben McDermott. Notably, the Hobart Hurricanes batter comes in as a standby player to Matthew Short, who might have to undergo a surgery on his fingers after injuring it during the ODI series. Earlier after the second ODI, Cricket Australia confirmed, “Short suffered cut on his right finger while attempting to take a catch off Josh Hazlewood.
Aussie white-ball captain Mitchell Marsh also opened up on the recent changes while confirming tight scheduling and frequent matches as the reason behind it. He also reiterated that with players jumbling between domestic cricket and injury setbacks, the squad was enforced with a lot of updates.
