With the international cricketing calendar underway around the globe, the New Zealand men’s team is currently hosting England in a white-ball series comprising of three T20Is and as many ODIs. While the Three
Lions won the T20I series after winning the second match by 65-run margin and two games getting washed out due to rain, the action will now move towards the ODI leg, which will be played from October 26 to November 1.
But just hours ahead of the opening ODI, which will be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Sunday, October 26, the hosts have been handed a massive setback. The Mitchell Santner-led side will be without pacer Kyle Jamieson as he experienced stiffness in his left side during a training session this morning.
Kyle Jamison to miss England ODIs; likely to return for home series vs West Indies
It is to be noted that Jamieson last featured in first two T20Is against England and missed the final game. Black Caps head coach Rob Walter shared an update on Jamieson stating, "Kyle experienced some stiffness in his side after bowling today (Saturday) and we didn't want to take any risks at this stage of the summer. We felt it was best for him to sit out this one-day series and give himself the best chance of being ready for the West Indies tour which starts on November 5 in Auckland."
The Black Caps also confirmed that his replacement will be announced shortly, writing, “a replacement for Jamieson in the ODI squad would be confirmed following the completion of today’s opening round of the Ford Trophy One-Day competition.”
New Zealand’s updated squad for England ODIs:
Mitchell Santner (Captain), Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Nathan Smith, Kane Williamson, Will Young.
