On Saturday, October 4, India registered a comfortable victory over West Indies to go 1-0 up in the two-match series. Coming into the series after Asia Cup 2025 victory, India completed ousted West Indies across
departments, handing a defeat by an inning and 140-run margin at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
For the unversed, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. While the Windies batter failed put up a good score and were restricted at 162, courtesy a four-wicket haul from Mohammed Siraj, three wickets from Jasprit Bumrah and key wickets coming from Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar. In reply, India comfortably chased the total and posted a 286-run lead, courtesy centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja.

While the result came earlier than expected, Ravindra Jadeja stole the limelight with his all-rounder performance. Coming out to bat after KL Rahul was dismissed early in the second session of Day 2, Jadeja went on to score an unbeaten 104 off 176 deliveries. His innings was laced with six fours and five sixes, striking at the rate of 59.09.
While he stood tall in the middle, stitching a crucial stand with Dhruv Jurel, he did star with the ball in the second West Indies innings, depleting the side 146/10 in 45.1 overs. The veteran Indian all-rounder, picked up four wickets in his 13-over spell, while conceding 54 runs at an economy of 4.20. For his all-rounder effort, he also bagged the Player of the Match award.
With this award, he has now equalled Ravichandran Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble to win 10 POTM awards for India. Jadeja’s feat came in his 86th Test. He sits only behind Sachin Tendulkar (14), and Rahul Dravid (11) - both of whom have won more POTMs for India in Tests.
