On Saturday, November 8, Manchester United earned a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League clash in London after finding themselves in a precarious position. With the Red Devils down
to 10-men due to a left knee injury to substitute Benjamin Sesko, defender Matthijs de Ligt headed the ball into the back of the net in the 90+6’ minute to help his team get a well-deserved point from the contest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In the first half, neither of the teams were at their best in the opposition third until a fantastic move from Manchester United led to the first goal from Bryan Mbeumo in the 32nd minute. The midfielder scored a rare headed goal for the Red Devils thanks to a delicious cross from Amad Diallo from the right to the far post, where he was left unmarked by the Tottenham Hotspur defenders.
Matthijs de Ligt ensured that Manchester United stayed unbeaten in five straight matches
With clear cut chances few and far between, Manchester United made a wholesale change in the middle of the second half, one forced as returning Harry Maguire suffered an apparent injury. Tottenham Hotspur got an equaliser in the 83rd minute against the run of play when Mathys Tel scored on the turn, thanks to a big deflection from the boot of Matthijs de Ligt.

Shortly after, Benjamin Sesko had a great chance to put Manchester United in the lead but his shot was blocked off by Micky van der Ven in the nick of time and in the process, the striker suffered a left knee injury and headed to the tunnel. Richarlison made it 2-1 for Tottenham Hotspur in the 90+1’ minute in front of 10-men before the Red Devils dug deep and found the equaliser just seconds before the final whistle through Matthijs de Ligt before holding on for a draw.
As of this writing, Manchester United have jumped to seventh place in the Premier League standings with 18 points in 11 matches and find themselves behind Tottenham Hotspur in third place on goal difference.
