The Indian cricket team is back on the field just days after clean sweeping West Indies in a two-match Test series. With the eyes set on the white-ball tour of Australia, the Indian team regrouped prior to the first ODI, which is being played at the Perth Stadium in Perth on October 19. For the unversed, the hosts won the toss and elected to bowl first - a decision which proved pivotal seeing them remove the top order in just 8.5 overs.
The Indian team, who anticipated the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both of whom return after last featuring in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, had an outing to forget as they lost three wickets in a span of 8.5 overs before rain came into play. Opening the innings alongside the newly-named ODI skipper
Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma was dismissed after just scoring eight runs, a brilliant catch by Matthew Renshaw at second slip off Hazlewood’s delivery.
India lose Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli cheaply; India at 25/3 after 8.5 overs
After his dismissal, stalwart Virat Kohli joined Gill in the middle, but was dismissed on eight-ball duck. Just before rain came to play, Nathan Ellis dismissed the Indian skipper on the first delivery of his over to leave India reeling at 25/3 after 8.5 overs. Seeing the poor-run-of form of Rohit and Virat on return, fans could not hold back and reacted sharply.
