On October 4, 1997, Team Indiawicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was born to Rajendra and Saroj Pant in Roorkee. Pant received training under Tarak Sinha at the Sonnet Cricket Academy. Pant’s diligence got
him effective results as he broke into India’s U-19 World Cup 2016 side. The southpaw grabbed the opportunity with both hands and emerged as the second-leading run-getter for India in the tournament, notching up 267 runs in six matches with a hundred and two fifties at a strike rate of 104.29. In February 2017, he made his international debut with his appearance against England in a T20I game played in Bengaluru.
In 2018, Rishabh Pantmade his Test and ODI debuts. India beat Australia by 2-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018/19 held Down Under. In India’s maiden Test series win on Aussie soil, Pant chipped in with 350 runs in seven innings of four matches and ended up as the second-leading run-getter in the competition. Pant also played the World Cup 2019 for India, replacing injured opener Shikhar Dhawan. Appearing in four matches of the marquee tournament, he scored 116 runs at an average of 29.00.

In 2021, India clinched a 2-1 win against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It was India’s second consecutive Test series success on Aussie soil. Pant played a crucial role in the triumph. He notched up 274 runs in five innings of three games and concluded the tournament as the third-leading run-getter in the competition.
On the fifth day of the final Test played in Brisbane, India required 324 more runs to win the game and series. Pant stepped up and played an unbeaten 89-run knock to help the side take home by three wickets. The left-handed batter’s batting brilliance also got him the Player of the Match (POTM) award.
