Liverpool forward Mohamed Salahis going through some tough period on the football pitch recently. He was benched for the Wednesday's UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Premier
League champions ended up with four back-to-back defeats along with loss against Manchester United before winning the UCL 5-1 clash earlier this week. Furthermore, he faced a run of five games without scoring a goal or assist for the Reds. The Egyptian squandered great opportunities to score Liverpool some points against Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League.
Now, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has addressed the 33 year-old Egyptian star's downfall. While facing the media, Slot said, "A tough period for Salah? It’s been a difficult spell for all of us. Nobody is used to losing. For the players who have been here for many years, and also for the newcomers. The Dutch coach downplayed Salah’s form and expressed optimism for the rest of the campaign. His missed chances? I don’t know if it’s really about form."
"Generally, players miss chances. He’s only human. We’re not used to seeing him miss opportunities, especially not over several matches, but it happens. The main thing is Mo has always scored goals for our club. The last thing I’m worried about is that, because Mo has done this his entire life, and that’s what I expect from him," Arne Slot further said.
Mohamed Salah's poor form resulted to Trent Alexander-Arnold's switch to Real Madrid
Meanwhile, Slot also mentioned about striker's poor form to be the result behind Alexander- Arnold's switch to Real Madrid. At the end of the previous season, Alexander-Arnold left the team in disarray after the homegrown star infuriated supporters by extending his contract and departing his boyhood club for a pittance.
Salah, meanwhile, will be looking to return to the starting lineup as Liverpool travels to play match against Brentford on Saturday. This could be their first Premier League victory in over a month, bringing them closer to the current league leaders, Arsenal.
