The 11th edition of Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) kickstarted on Sunday, November 9 with the fans witnessing the finalists of the last season take the field in the opener at Allan Border Field
in Brisbane. However, like the last time, the Melbourne Renegades Women reigned victorious against the Brisbane Heat by seven wickets via DLS.
Apart from that, the home side were also handed a massive blow as they have lost young leggie Grace Parsons for the entire season due to medical reasons. The official announcement was made just ahead of the start of the match, while all-rounder Grace Harris missed the opening game as she continues her recovery from calf injury.
Annie O’Neil replaces Grace Parsons in Brisbane Heat squad for WBBL 11
The 22-year-old leggie continues to sit on the sidelines due to medical reasons. Her last appearance came in the WNCL final this year where she picked up 3/29 for Queensland Fire in a losing cause. According to the Heat, Parsons has laready returned to light bowling in the nets and is likely to get fully fit by early next year. The Brisbane Heat have called in former Adelaide Strikers batter Annie O’Neil.
The Jess Jonassen-led side will next take on the field on Wednesday, November 12 when they host Perth Scorchers Women at the Allan Border Field, hoping to get their first win of the season.
