Openers: Shubman Gill and Saim Ayub
Team Indiaopener Shubman Gill made a comeback in India’s T20I squad after 14 months but he couldn’t be at his best. Appearing in seven matches, he could score only 127 runs at an average of 21.16.
Pakistan’s Saim Ayub also looked terrible as a top-order batter. In the tournament, he played seven matches in which he amassed four ducks with his bat. Discussing his batting numbers, he could score only 37 runs in seven outings at an egregious average of 5.28.
Middle-order batters: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Charith Asalanka, Salman Ali Agha, and Jaker Ali (wk)
India captain Suryakumar Yadav also looked completely out of rhythm with his bat. The 35-year-old amassed 72 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 101.40. Like Suryakumar, Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha and Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka also failed to create any impact as batters. Agha hoarded 72 runs in seven contests while Asalanka accumulated 75 runs in six games.
Jaker Ali, who got the chance to lead Bangladesh in the absence of regular skipper Litton Das, recorded a disastrous performance. The wicket-keeper batter could score only 71 runs in six matches, at a horrendous strike rate of 107.57.
All-rounder: Mohammad Nawaz
Pakistanall-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was handy with the bat in a few games but as a bowler, he put up underwhelming performances. Playing on spin-friendly pitches of the UAE, he picked up two wickets in five innings.
Bowlers: Fazalhaq Farooqi, Haris Rauf, Harshit Rana, and Shoriful Islam
Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi couldn’t perform upto expectations. The speedster played three matches in which he could bag only two wickets at an expensive economy of 9.10. Pakistan star quickHaris Rauftook nine wickets in five games but against the quality side like India in the final, he splurged 50 runs in his 3.2 overs.
Harishit Rana got the opportunity to play two matches for India but on both occasions, he was hammered ruthlessly by batters. The 23-year-old got two wickets at a disastrous economy of 11.28. Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam played a couple of matches for his team in the tournament in which he didn’t get any success but ended up leaking runs at an economy of 10.71.
