Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has challenged former India opener Shikhar Dhawan for a boxing match. Abrar failed to make it to Pakistan’s 18-member Test squad against South Africa after he failed to be effective for his national team in the Asia Cup 2025, played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The leg-spinner took six wickets in seven matches and his disheartening performances drew criticism. During these times, Abrar’s old clip is going viral on social media. In an interview with Pakistan TV host Sara Baloch, when Abrar was asked which player he wants to vent his anger on while contesting in a boxing match against.
"Kaunsa aisa player hai duniya ka jo aap chahate hai ki apke saamne ho aur aap boxing karey, jispe bada gussa aata ho?" asked
Baloch. Replying to the query, Abrar said, "Main chahta hu ki main boxing karu aur khada Shikhar Dhawan ho saamne (I want to do boxing and see Shikhar Dhawan against me).” Both Shikhar Dhawan and Abrar haven’t played against each other ever. In August 2024, the star India opener retired from all forms of the sport.

Amidst his viral clip, Abrar has begun a new chapter in his personal life as the 27-year-old got married to Amna Rahim in a wedding ceremony held in Karachi. The clip of his wedding reception is going viral on social media and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Faheem Ashraf were spotted at the event.
Abrar, who failed to make it to Pakistan’s Test squad against South Africa, will endeavour to be disciplined in domestic cricket as he will look to serve the team in England, where they will play three Tests between August 19 and September 13.
