With the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 kickstarting with a bang on Tuesday, September 30 in India, the co-hosts Sri Lanka will host their first match of the tournament on Thursday, October 2. Bangladesh
Women will lock horns with Pakistan Women in what is the third match of the tournament and their first, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
But ahead of Bangladesh Women’s campaign opener, the side received a massive setback as their head coach Sarwar Imran suffered a minor stroke. As per a report by ESPNcricinfo, Bangladesh Women’s team manager SM Golam Faiyaz confirmed the update.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, the team manager also confirmed that Imran is out of danger and in a stable condition. “(Sarwar) Imran sir was feeling dizzy a couple of days ago, it continued on Monday. We took him to the hospital where the doctors detected he had a minor brain stoke,” Faiyaz said.
While the incident occurred on September 29, he was discharged from the hospital on September 30 and continues to recover at the team hotel. SM Golam Faiyaz further added, “We asked sir to rest today. He is hopeful of going to the ground with us tomorrow (Wednesday).”
