After a comfortable 41-run win over the UAE on Wednesday, September 17, Pakistan is the second team from Asia Cup 2025 Group A alongside India to advance into the Super Fours. The Men in Green finished in second place with two wins in three games and will next take on India once again in the Super Four stage on Sunday, September 21 in Dubai.
While the defending champions will come high on confidence as they registered a commanding seven-wicket win over arch-rival Pakistan in the group stage, the Men in Green will be eye for a revenge. Amidst this, the Pakistan cricket team has been on cusp of several controversies following the handshake row. After addressing several requests to the ICC following their defeat against India, the ICC is mulling
to take stern action against the side.
ICC likely to take action against Pakistan for multiple violations and misconduct in Asia Cup 2025
It is to be noted that after the controversies in India versus Pakistan match, the Salman Ali Agha-led side continued to be among talks after they arrived late to the field in their game against UAE, which saw the match start after an hour of delay. Seeing this, the ICC has written to PCB over “violating multiple tournament rules” and is looking to take strict action.
As per the statement, as informed by a source to PTI reads, “The ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta has written to the PCB stating that the board has been guilty of repeated PMOA violations on match day. PCB is in receipt of the email.” It is understood that despite several warning, Pakistan team breached the rules allowing media manager to film a meeting match referee Andy Pycroft, head coach Mike Hesson and the captain Salman Ali Agha.
While the media manager is not liable to hold such meetings, he was eventually refused entry by the ICC Anti-Corruption Manager as “he wanted to take his mobile phone into the PMOA”, as quoted by News18. This incident led the Pakistan team to threaten to withdraw, which further added to the violation rules. “The ICC, in order to preserve the interest of the sport, the tournament, and the stakeholders involved, accepted PCB’s requests despite this demonstrating a complete disregard for the sanctity of the PMOA, where the meeting took place," the source said.
