Notably, in this contest in the Premier League, Manchester United were the better team in the first half and they had a 1-0 lead to back it up after Casemiro scored a header in the 34th minute. But hosts Nottingham Forest, under their new manager Sean Dyche, came firing back at the start of the second half, scoring two goals in as many minutes through Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona, to take a 2-1 lead out of absolutely nowhere.
At times in the second half, Manchester United didn’t play at their best but still, they found the post through an effort from Bruno Fernandes before Amad Diallo scored a stunning first-time volley to level it up at 2-2 and nearly scored the winner if it wasn’t for the goalline clearance in the added time. In the post-match chat, Ruben Amorim was asked about whether Manchester United would have lost it from the same situation sometime ago and in response, he said, “Yes, and by more goals, that is my feeling.”
You can sense we could not win this game but we are not going to lose: Ruben Amorim
But over the past one month or so, Manchester United have been on an upward curve, winning four out of their last six Premier League matches with only one defeat. Taking this into account, the Manchester United manager also remarked, “In the past, if we had this kind of bad five minutes and we suffered two goals, we don't recover. Today is a different feeling. You can sense we could not win this game but we are not going to lose. And that is a feeling a big team sometimes has to have.”
He also divulged further and said, “The confidence, of course, is completely different," he said. "We came from three good games and we have a different confidence. We understand each other better. We talk more about this.”
