Meghalaya’s Akash Choudhary showed beast mode in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 clash against Arunachal Pradesh at Pithwala Stadium in Surat on Sunday, November 9. The middle-order went on to smash the fastest-ever
half-century in First-Class cricket as he reached the milestone in just 11 deliveries. With the help of his fiery knock, Meghalaya declared their first innings at a mammoth 628 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Coming to bat first after winning the toss, Meghalaya got a strong start on day one as Arpit Bhatewara top scored with 207 runs off 273 balls hitting 23 fours and four sixes, while Kishan Lyngdoh played a captain’s knock of 119(187) runs. On day two Meghalaya continued their dominance with the bat as Rahul Dalal scored a quickfire 144(102) runs. However, it was Akash Choudhary who stole all the limelight with his knock off just 14 balls.

Coming to bat at number eight, Akash Choudhary shattered several records as he completed his fifty in just 11 balls. During his knock, Akash also smashed eight consecutive sixes and got out after scoring 50 runs off just 14 balls. With the help of Akash’s knock, Meghalaya went past 600 runs in the first innings.
After posting a massive total on the board, Meghalaya bowled Arunachal Pradesh for just 73 runs taking a mammoth lead of 555 runs in the first innings. For Meghalaya, Aryan Bora took four wickets, while Dippy Sangma and Aaron Nongrum scalped two wickets and Akash Choudhary and Swastic Chettri scalped a wicket each.
