On Sunday, October 19, Raul Fernandez and TrackHouse MotoGP Team, under the Aprilia factory team, won their maiden MotoGP premier class race at the Australian Grand Prix in the Phillip Island Circuit,
Melbourne. The 24-year-old, who hails from Spain, became the seventh different winner in the MotoGP premier class races in the ongoing 2025 season, just a couple of weeks after his fellow countryman Fermin Aldeguer did the same at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
Notably, Raul Fernandez managed to finish at the top step of the podium ahead of Italian Fabio di Giannantonio of the VR46 Ducati Team by 1.418 seconds while the latter’s countryman Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia factory team ended the race in third place. It was just yesterday when Bezzecchi won the 13-lap sprint race yesterday at the Australian Grand Prix weekend, so it ended up being quite a good short stay down under for him despite suffering two long lap penalties.

As far as Raul Fernandez was concerned, he found himself clear of the entire grid of racers by lap 10 before managing the race impressively until Fabio di Giannantonio pushed him a bit towards the end. It is very important to remember that Marc Marquez wasn’t racing this weekend for the Ducati factory team in Australia after undergoing surgery on his injured shoulder, which happened due to a crash with Marco Bezzecchi in Indonesia earlier this week.
New world champion Marc Marquez missed the Australian Grand Prix due to injury
While the Spaniard will be needing up to 16 weeks to recover from injury, which will allow him to get fit in time for the MotoGP season, he has already wrapped up the 2025 title at the Japanese Grand Prix last month, his seventh world championship victory. In the post-race proceedings, Raul Fernandez did the widely famous shoey celebration in Australia, drinking the champagne from the shoe in front of thousands in attendance at the Phillip Island Circuit.
Moreover, Alex Marquez, the younger brother of Marc Marquez, finished in fourth place at the Australian Grand Prix for the BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP Team, under the Ducati factory team, to seal his spot in second place in the world championship standings.
