In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26 match between Maharashtra and Chandigarh, top-order batter Prithvi Shaw looked ruthless against bowlers in the second innings and notched up a majestic double ton. Shaw has gone through a lot of struggles in the last one year but in this match, he showed fighting spirit and delivered a 222-run innings to Maharashtra off just 156. In his courageous knock, he hit 34 boundaries. Maharashtra, who were already enjoying a 104-run lead after the first innings, saw themselves in the commanding position after Shaw’s double century.
Earlier, in the first innings, the opener fell on a duck against pacer Jagjit Singh, so it was crucial for him to be impactful in the second innings. Prithvi Shaw batted formidably and took
Chandigarh’s bowling attack to the cleaners. He completed his double ton in just 141 balls. Riding on his exceptional batting show, Maharashtra erected a total of 359/3 in 52 overs.
Prithvi Shaw expected to continue his brilliant form
Following this magnificent knock, Prithvi Shaw’s responsibility will be to continue his form. With the IPL 2026 auction highly likely to be held in December, he will be expected to be disciplined in domestic cricket from Maharashtra so that franchises at the upcoming business event show interest in him.
Last year, his non-performance for Mumbai in the domestic circuit disenchanted franchises as they didn’t show faith in the 25-year-old. Shaw will look to continue his form in the upcoming matches for Maharashtra so that it not only helps him cement his place in the new domestic side but also get him a contract at the auction. Against Chandigarh, the youngster notched up a double ton but he will be expected to be consistent with his bat as he has amassed two ducks after four innings in the Ranji Trophy.
