Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif shared his instance over the drama during the post-match presentation after the final of the Asia Cup 2025. India defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win their ninth Asia Cup title at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 28. However, there was a lot of drama during the post-match presentation after the Indian team refused to collect the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi.
Waiting for the Indian players to come and collect the trophy,Mohsin Naqvi left the stage with the trophy and India had to leave the ground without the trophy despite winning the tournament. Looking at the drama, Rashid Latif alleged Team India for breaching the sportsmanship spirit and also demanded India’s suspension from the International
Cricket Council (ICC).
This would have been an open and shut case: Rashid Latif
Sharing his thoughts on Facebook, Rashid Latif said that it was an "ugly day of cricket" and also demanded the Indian cricket team’s suspension from the ICC. However, Latif also shared that with most of the higher authorities (ICC Chairman, CEO, CFO, Commercial Chief, and Head of Events and Communications) in the ICC are taken by Indians, the suspension isn’t possible.
“Indian cricket team a good candidate for suspension from @ICC after refusing to collect the #AsiaCup2025 trophy and awards from the ACC Chairman. In any other sport, this would have been an open and shut case. But with ICC Chairman, CEO, CFO, Commercial chief, and head of Events and Communications being Indians, suspension seems unlikely," Rashid Latif wrote on Facebook.
