With the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season 11 set to commence in just a few days’ time, the Melbourne Renegades side have been handed a massive setback. The Renegades will be without Australian fast
bowler Tayla Vlaeminck, who will be missing her fourth consecutive season. Notably, Tayla is recovering from a shoulder surgery and rehabilitation setbacks.
The 26-year-old had hoped to feature in this year’s edition, beginning her comeback from a dislocated right shoulder sustained in the 2024 T20 Women’s World Cup. But recently, the medical staff confirmed that her rehabilitation has not progressed well as she still struggles to bowl full pace.

Speaking on the same, Australian women's team physiotherapist Kate Beerworth said, "Following a right shoulder injury that required reconstruction surgery, Tayla's recovery has been impacted by ongoing limitations, restricting her ability to progress her bowling and work through the end stages of her return to play plan."
While she continues her rehabilitation, Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten affirmed of full support in Tayla Vlaeminck’s long-term recovery. "Tayla has been a valued member of the squad... We knew there was a possibility she might not be available this season given what she had sustained, and there's been no pressure on her to rush that process. Her long-term health and readiness to perform at her best remain the priority," Rosengarten said.
