South Africa’s young batter Dewald Brevis is keen to serve Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 2025-26 season. At the auction held on September 9, Brevis emerged as the most costliest player in the history of the league. The 22-year-old became a member of Capitals for a massive sum of INR 8.31 Crore. DC-owned franchise outbid MI Cape Town, Joburg Super Kings, and Paarl Royals to reserve the services of the youngster. This year, Brevis has done an exceptional job for South Africa in the shortest format of the sport. He will look to carry his form to the SA20 League, which will be played from December 26 to January 25.
Recently, Brevis spoke to SA20 and said that he is excited to be a part of Pretoria’s campaign and play at Centurion’s SuperSport Park.
"I’m very excited. You always reflect back, and I think it was a special three years I had with MI Cape Town. We had our ups and downs, and it was amazing what we did in the last year. I’ll always remember that. But this is a new chapter for me. To be with Pretoria, I’m super excited. It is my hometown. I know SuperSport Park very well, it’s very close to my heart. That’s the ground where me and my brother grew up watching cricket, running around the field, playing next to the field. To be able to be there now, I’m really excited," remarked Dewald Brevis.
Dewald Brevis’ SA20 League records
Dewald Brevis has played 32 matches in SA20 League, in which he has amassed 676 runs with four fifties in 29 innings. In the initial three seasons of the league, the right-handed batter was part of MI Cape Town but this time, his role will be to strengthen Pretoria’s batting attack and justify his huge price tag in the side.
This year, Brevis has done a magnificent job for South Africa in T20Is. Appearing in 10 contests, he notched up 340 runs with one hundred and a fifty in 10 matches at an impeccable strike rate of 197.67. He was exceptional for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as well. Donning CSK colours, he hoarded 225 runs in six matches, at a strike rate of 180.00.
