The Athletic, in its August story, mentioned that due to interest from rival Premier League clubs, Villa was reportedly intending to negotiate fresh terms with McGinn. Over the summer, Everton and, more recently, Newcastle United expressed interest in the Scotland international, who is seen as a crucial component of manager Unai Emery's agenda.

He has made a name for himself in the Aston Villa dressing room and became an engine room over time since joining in 2018.
